Kensington Kernel Engineered Wood Flooring
The Kensington Kernel engineered oak has a wear layer of 5mm giving this floor longer durability and resistance against high levels of usage. The responsibly sourced solid oak veneer is mechanically brushed and expertly finished with UV lacquer to deliver a captivating and practical flooring solution.
Our classic grade means the Kernel’s appearance is a delicate balance of rustic grain patterns, imperfections, characterful knots and sap wood - everything you’d associate with a traditional hardwood floor. In order to replicate a well established appearance we have darkened the wear layer. The colour of the Kernel is more of a warm oak which contrasts perfectly with lighter décor, ideally installed in period properties due to its perceived age and style.
The planks are brushed to accentuate the hardwood grain and bring out the natural characteristics of the wood. Once this process has prevented new growth from taking place, UV lacquer is then applied to ensure the product is protected against moderate levels of foot traffic, moisture and direct sunlight. It’s always helpful to point out that because the UV lacquer is an added protective layer you must take precautions when moving furniture or heavy items across the surface. Always use anti-scratch felt pads for chair legs, sofa feet, lamps and tables.
Seamless Installation
Installing our Kensington Kernel engineered wood flooring is effortless. The boards have been manufactured with a classic tongue and groove mechanism that once put together, prevents movement and shrinkage. There are two ways of laying the floor in your property, depending on the sub-floor and your installer's recommendation you may prefer one over the other.
If you benefit from a wooden subfloor you would be able to secret nail the tongue mechanism down to hold the flooring in place. Alternatively flooring adhesive can be applied to the back of each individual plank and stuck down directly on to the sub-floor.
18mm Engineered Wood Flooring
Customers love our Kensington range of flooring because of the 18mm thickness and the 5mm wear layer. The boards of the Kernel flooring are 120mm wide which means they can be used to make rooms appear wider and longer. Hallways, living rooms and dining rooms are ideal locations to install this style of flooring.
The straight planks come in random lengths ranging from 300mm-1200mm and this allows fitters to use a random installation pattern closely associated with historical flooring installations. The Kensington Kernel is an ideal candidate for customers who desire an aged oak appearance for their flooring solution.
