How do I determine the amount of flooring I need?
To calculate the amount of flooring you'll need, measure the length and width of your room and multiply the two together, this will give you your square meterage.
If you have a room that is not a uniform shape, divide the space into separate areas and perform the same calculation. After you have calculated all the individual areas simply add them together to get your total requirement.
We recommend ordering an additional 10% to account for cuts and waste (m2 + 10% = total order). We have added a handy tick-box option on all of our products if you want to see your order with and without wastage.
Feel free to use our convenient room calculator which can be found on the ‘Room Calculator’ tab of any flooring product.
What is wastage?
Wastage is extra flooring that you need to purchase on top of your area requirements. Extra cuts of flooring may be needed during installation to maintain a specific pattern, avoid unwanted variation in material and to account for unique room shapes and sizes.
We advise adding 10% to the amount of flooring required to make sure installation goes as smoothly as possible. An easy way to include wastage within your calculations is get the m2 requirement and x 1.10.

Can I use underfloor heating with my flooring?
Most of our products are suitable for use with underfloor heating but it is important that you check the 'Specifications' tab on your chosen product to make sure.
Solid wood flooring should never be installed above an underfloor heating system.
What flooring is suitable for pets?
All of our durable floors are designed to withstand the rigours of family life however it’s always sensible to make a considered flooring choice regarding pets.
Generally speaking, a lacquered finish is easier to scratch so we would avoid choosing this finish with long-clawed pets. Our waterproof LVT and water resistant AC5 laminate products are perfect for pets that enjoy the outdoors.
